South Kilburn Carnivale - London

On Saturday 4th July 2026, I had the pleasure of joining the South Kilburn Carnivale in London, and had a stall with a selection of my small paintings on paper. In the background stood my large painting 'The Return of Heat', borrowed back from my sister's private collection. Her flat is a short distance away, so getting it to the Carnivale meant carrying it through the parks and streets of South Kilburn, which felt like an experience in itself.

The day could not have suited this display better, sunny and hot, and the contrast made the colours just sing so beautifully. There is something heartwarming about showing work this way, out in the open rather than on a white gallery wall, where people can wander up, see your work and simply share their feedback.

I met lots of lovely local people, had unhurried chats about colour and process, and there was an uplifted atmosphere that carried through the whole afternoon. My thanks to the organisers of the South Kilburn Carnivale for such a joyful day, and to everyone who stopped by the stall.
